With a collaborative, client-focused culture, they're looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations for around 900 employees across Australia, working closely with the Finance and People & Culture teams.

About the Role:
As the Payroll Manager, you will lead the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing for a workforce of roughly 900 employees nationally. With 1-2 direct reports, this role balances strategic oversight with hands-on management, working alongside internal stakeholders and third-party providers to optimise payroll delivery and enhance employee experience.

Duties:
* Manage the full payroll cycle across Australia, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
* Lead and support a small team (1-2 direct reports), fostering a high-performance culture.
* Ensure ongoing compliance with Australian payroll legislation, awards, and taxation requirements.
* Partner with Finance and People & Culture to align on reporting, budgeting, and audit requirements.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
* Prepare and present payroll analytics and reporting to senior stakeholders.
* Provide expert payroll advice and guidance to internal teams and respond to escalated queries.

Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience managing payroll in a medium to large, multi-state organisation.
* Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards, and compliance frameworks.
* Experience leading a small team or mentoring junior staff.
* High attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement initiatives and manage change.
